VBN Components and LKAB Wassara successfully collaborate in water-powered drilling project

Earlier this year EIT RawMaterials – the world’s largest consortium within raw materials – financed a collaboration between VBN Components and LKAB Wassara. The purpose is a more rapid product development for LKAB Wassara, using VBN Components’ unique technique for 3D-printing wear resistant materials. To date, a part of a thin walled DTH (Down-the-Hole) Hammer has been produced with an excellent result. Further tests of the DTH Hammer remain in order to verify the properties of the component in action. If necessary, the design will be optimised, material-wise and geometrically, to obtain a perfect result. -Our expertise in material properties combined with the flexibility of 3D-printing, allows us to easily adjust the production process according to our clients’ needs. We combine the excellence of LKAB Wassara with our own know-how to develop new methods within water-powered drilling, says Martin Nilsson, CEO of VBN Components.
