The Process

VBN Components has developed a number of unique hard and wear resistant materials which are produced in near-net-shape through 3D printing. This means that no soft machining is needed (sawing, drilling, milling, etc.). The customer provides a CAD drawing and gets a near-net-shape component that needs grinding or Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) to achieve a perfect surface.

The process allows geometries that are not possible to produce with conventional machining technologies, which gives you the opportunity to choose the best material for your end application, instead of a material that only suits your manufacturing methods. Components up to 200 x 200 x 380 mm can be made with this technique, depending on geometry.

A license agreement is possible for specific applications, with production at customer sites. However, it is not possible to solely purchase powder from VBN Components, without further knowledge regarding the process.
